Loftier CPU usage (80%-100%) on an Intel i7 4770k!

I don't think having this problem before patch i.four. But right now, I'm at a place where I can't properly relish the game because, for some reason, the game decides to "destroy" my CPU...

I have an i7 4770k (overclocked it to iv.2GHz from the stock 3.5GHz only that didn't help) + GTX 1080 and 16GBs of DDR3 RAM. I utilize MSI Afterburner + Rivatuner Statistics Server to run across my framerates and usage of both my CPU and my GPU. The GPU is almost e'er at a steady 98% and I go around 90-120fps when that happens. But one time the game starts using 90+% of the CPU (organisation uses around 5%-ten%), my framerates tin can drop to the depression 40s (GPU usage drops considering of the CPU bottleneck), which is simply unacceptable for the High-End RIG that I have.

Is this a common trouble? Is it just me? What could possibly exist wrong with the game/engine to use so much of my CPU?

    Here's my DxDiag information.

You lot can limit the ammount of processor being used by tasks in windows if you desire to prevent the cpu from over-tasking itself. However it'due south quite possible that your clogging occurs when the cpu is being fully used due to temperatures of the processor causing the cpu to throttle. It may be a simple fact that your cpu doesn't take enough cooling when it's beingness fully utilised, which happens to a lot computers that don't have decent cooling.

You could try and limit the processor usage to prevent throttling with temps, if the game runs fine and so you shouldn't have issues with an i7 and a 1080, however if that is not useful y'all may need to improve the cooling on the cpu.

Try and get a temperature cheque program such as : Open up Hardware Monitor , speed fan, real temp and encounter what temperatures your cores are hitting. if they're above the recommended temperatures for the cpu where it would throttle then y'all know it's a cooling problem throttling the cpu.

After that check your cooler is seated correctly onto the cpu, if that isn't the problem and so it may require y'all getting better cooling.

I think the condom max for your processor is below eighty C before it starts to thermal throttle or is unsafe to perform heavy tasks such equally gaming constantly. Y'all actually need your cpu to be running around threescore-70 for it to be comfortable, Ideally a closed liquid cooling solution would assist at that place and reduce information technology to the fifty -60 margins. Or a very good air cooler that people on the internet can recommend for it to accept low temperatures.

Some other possibility is if your cpu is being over tasked and windows has no caput room to function, where 90% is used for game, 10% for windows, then there could be a buffering issue for the cpu to calculate tasks, causing a backlog of necessary tasks for it to run smoothly. Attempt the limiting of tasks for the cpu in windows at that bespeak see if that helps.

I have a liquid cooling solution (Corsair H110). Equally for the CPU overtasking itself, I have made certain that I airtight whatsoever groundwork program I could, dropping the CPU usage for other programs other than The Sectionalisation to 3-5%, which is already low. The trouble is that this game'due south merely using too much of my CPU. It's the just game that dares to fifty-fifty come close to 90% CPU usage. I don't even think any other game comes shut to 80% on maxed settings.

Probably not a cooling trouble so Simply might be worth observing the temps just in case there is a problem in that location.

I also run a corsair liquid libation on mine.

It's seemingly the cpu not having any more infinite to work in.
Take you lot disabled speed stepping for the cpu in the bios ?
And is your difficult bulldoze read and write occurring when the fps drops ?

At that place's an old Toms hardware thread that talks about similar issues for people here:

Same deal, nothing techwise works mate.....

Running AMD 8-core at four.4Ghz (not overclocked) with 32 Gigs of fast ram and a 4GB R9 290x.....same deal....

Fifty-fifty if I run this game on information technology's own, or run this aslope Eliteangerous and another heavy game - it's however the same....

I did disable Intel Speed something (can't remember the name off the top of my caput) considering I also saw that couldn't been a trouble. Equally for my HDD. The game is installed on a secondary HDD (my primary is an SSD). And it isn't hit the "speed-ceiling" at that place. I merely played the game for around one and a half hour, which the Chore Manager opened (on the "Performance" tab) on my second monitor and the disk in which the game'due south located did become close to 100% (every bit in the max it ever gotten was around lxxx%), but never actually hit the 100% mark. There was a point where the game was actually using the full 100% of my CPU (saw it on Rivatuner) instead of using effectually 95% which the other v% reserved for the OS.

EDIT: I managed to find some screenshots I took back in March (when I was using a GTX 780 Ti). The CPU usage is sitting at 95% in that location, too (and GPU at 88%). Only when I got frame-rates drops, I e'er assumed it was on my GPU side, since information technology wasn't able to run the game on max settings. I gauge the game, for some reason, has ever used way too much of my CPU...

Hey, thanks for the Dxdiag, I will pass this on.

If anyone else is experiencing this issue, please pass on the information requested in the original postal service in the post-obit thread:

So, is at that place any update yous can give me? Because the game withal uses 100% of my CPU, and my frame-rate drops below 60fps (with a GTX 1080, mind yous).
